Day time running lights

Is there a way to disable this feature without screwing anything else up? It's not necessary in my opinion, and shortens the life of the headlight bulbs. Will it affect a new York state inspection?

After reading up, sounds like just a heat sink type connector that needs to be unplugged. Can this easily be plugged back in if needed? Didn't find anything on that

Right. Heat sink only through the access door on the drivers side. For disabling the auto headlights, 97-00(I think) you can pull the fuse. 01-03 you can pull the fuse plus one of the connectors on the headlight module above the drivers kick panel. I forget which but can look if someone needs to know.

i have had my DRL fuse unplugged for 5 years, no issues with NY inspection. DRL is not an inspection point. Headlamps are...
and having a modded car and a DHP...."If it don't set the light, it must be alright"

I noticed the bulbs lasted a long time even with DRLs. The resistor cuts the voltage down back to what I assume should be 12v. Also I think it uses the high beam filament, not the low beams.

I did it because I didn't think it was worth the extra power consumption, and I later installed 25w hid fog lights that I'm using as DRLs that look pretty cool.

From the pages and pages of service records for my car, there is only record of the drivers side bulb being replaced in in 2005. That one lasted two years. So that means the oem passenger side lasted 13 years, unless it was replaced not at a dealer. I'd like to actually install some led strips into the headlight as DRL's. Not like the ones you'd find at the light section at Walmart where you press the button to try them out. My wife's 2012 Chrysler 200 has some kind of blue light tube at the top of the housing which would look neat.

I use just the fog lights in the daytime. I think they look sharp.

Yeah your fogs only look good. I might do something like that. What hid kit did you use? Also, What did you use to paint the word "pontiac" on your front bumper? Looks sharp.

Pontiac is in reflective concepts vynl inlay lettering. It's a 25w hid kit I got on Amazon.

Question...is the DRL system light sensitive? I got in my car this morning to leave for work at 5:30am and the running lights were functioning. But when I unplugged the connector yesterday in the day time, they were off.

Before I had hid's I left the auto lights functional. I kind of liked them. But with hid's I'm better off without them.
