i have a 1997 GTP... i just got a new system and i installed a new head unit and when i got it all hooked up and it was all working fine and then i noticed i didnt have any dash lights so i checked the fuses and none is blown...so now im at the point where i have no idea what to do...? please help this is a daily driver so i need dash lights....

I drove my SSEi around for 2 years not knowing why my dash lights didn't work.
It started when I pulled the Alpine deck out and put the stock one back in. I checked the fuses and none were blown. I went through all the relays, checked literally every ground making sure they were cleaned, di-electric greased, and didn't have any broken wires going into them, along with cleaning the battery terminals and inspecting the wires for corrosion.
After 2 years of living with just HUD and the interior lamps I happened to change the PCM/BCM and found that didn't fix it. I went to pull the fuse box, but as a last resort before pulling the fuse box and replacing it I pulled EVERY fuse out, checked it and put it back in. WALLA!!! There were no blown fuses, but apparently the fuse for the dash lights wasn't making a good contact.

In your case where wires were cut, there is a good chance that the power wire for the dash lights might've gotten cut and not respliced or spliced back together wrong.
Best of luck with fix.

check all wires behind the deck...if u have the illumination wire (usually orange) make sure its hooked up
