Ladies and Gents, here is our 2005 NA GT. It's all stock except for a K&N drop-in filter. We bought it in April of 2011 with 99k miles. Here is what it looked like when we purchased:
My girlfriend fell in love with the interior and I was a fan of the 3800 so we were very happy with the purchase. It has treated us well for the last year up until this last summer. The trans started to shift weird - felt like it it was hitting a bump between each gear. We had all the solenoids replaced and now it shifts better. The transmission doesn't feel perfect but it is smooth, so we are grateful for that!
Haven't done any mods to it yet, and I don't plan on doing anything extreme. I would like to do minor performance mods just to wake it up a bit - was thinking of doing a custom WAI and then swapping out the cat with a high flow, or maybe even a full exhaust system. I am open to suggestions on these areas. I know it could use some work appearance wise too, but it's more important to us to keep this thing reliable than making it look good.
I just got a 3M headlight restoration kit yesterday because the headlights looked like crap. We pulled the lights out to avoid having to tape anything off. A friend of mine did the sanding while I waxed the car yesterday. Here is how they looked before:
Covered in Wax with the lights removed, reminded me of a skull:
After sanding it for a while with the kit we got pretty good results. We probably could have spent more time on each step for better results but we were just experimenting with the kit. After the kit:
We focused on the front of the lights. As you can see the top of the headlights still have a little bit of fade to them. I might get another kit and run over them again, or grab some AVS covers to hide whats left. If I did that I would want them color matched though.
So that's our Grand Prix. Nothing special yet but glad to be able to share it on the site here, and get the advice we need to keep it running! I snapped a few pics after cleaning it up. It's a slow NA GT but we love it and are proud of it!
HDR photos taken on my Droid 3 using Camera360 - great camera app. Thanks for looking!
