Cylinder 6 Misfire and exhaust leak and mysterious wiring connector?

Ok, I have been battling this cylinder 6 misfire for a while now. the cylinder 6 misfire is the only code it ever has and when you try and give it alot of throttle the car starts shaking and will not go. Then the check engine light flashes. I little history I changed the plugs and wires about 2 weeks ago with autolite 606 coppers. made no change. I did a compression test today and the 6 cylinder was at 140PSI while 1 cylinder was at 150PSI. So I am guessing it is ok? Only thing I can think of is a clogged or failing injector? While working on it today I noticed a exhaust leak where the egr and crossover are. They are so close I cannot tell where it is coming from. Do one of these usally leak? and could that cause a misfire? also when getting on the highway I smell that sulfer smell (bad cat?) but I was told a bad cat would throw a random misfire and not just a single cylinder and last but not least I found this connector on the rear of the engine going to nothing. I think its just there for a GTP maybe. but wanted to check to be sure.

The wiring harnesses are pretty specific to each type of motor. That connector looks like it goes to what I believe is your California emissions equipped "stuff" on the rear manifold, above the rear valve cover.
 
I guess I can just change the gaskets on the crossover since I can't tell fot sure where it is coming from?
 
I also have a connector on the back side of my engine that I cannot place. Here are some pics

That is the same exact connector as I am talking about! also I found my exhaust leak is at the bottom of the egr valve. Do I need to replace the whole valve?
 
Don't worry about the connectors. It's to connect to the california emissions solenoid that would be there if you had california emissions.
 
Thanks OH4CompG, That is one problem down. I tried cleaning my egr and replacing the gasket but it is leaking from the pipe that goes to the headers. Does anything think this could be causing my misfire?
 
Something else I noticed today while cleaning the egr is it has a knocking sound that could be coming from the number 6 cylinder but its hard to tell for sure. Could this be a broken spring or something in the valves even though the compression test came out ok?
 
Hi there I'm having same prob as we speak only my misfire is cylinder 2...rear bank of cylinders though. I have changed coils plugs and wires. Could be a cat but I removed mine completely today removed codes and still have the misfire. Oh and before all this I had a misfire on 4 whole reason I changed coils plugs wires I have a thread on here as well I'm moving on to fuel system next if I fix my problem I'll let you know.
 


Any update on this issue. Did you ever get it resolved? I'm having the same issue with my cas. Same engine but in a camaro. Im consiering cleaning the cat out and cleaning the egr. any advice would be great. Misfire is only on cyl 6. I get the shaking even if the ses light doesnt go off. I think I might have got a post cat code one too. The way the thread op describes it is dead on!
 
I was never able to pinpoint the issue. I ended up swapping in a new engine. I still need to disasemble the old one and see what I find
