Custom Hood Insulation

My hood insulation or fire wall looks like garbage, old and rugged looking. I've seen pictures of customized firewalls with like a Pontiac logo or Grand Prix lettering or something in them. Anyone know where to find this or how to do it. It looks great, and I want to do it to mine!

Whats normally referred to as firewall is the sheetmetal betweeen the engine and passenger compartment. So you're correct in calling it hood insulation. I'd call what you're after a "custom hood liner". I would approach a custom upholstery shop to have this done if you're after professional results. Keep in mind that the material (no I don't mean fabric necessarily) used has to withstand the heat there.

If I were going to make one and do it nice, I'd make a buck out of cardboard to the desired shape and fiberglass it, or fabricate it from aluminum. Either way, I would probably attach it differently than the stock insulator attaches due to weight being more. Whatever you put there is a heat-holder over the engine. I run without one by choice, their original purpose was mainly for noise, in my opinion. If its ugly, chunk it.
