custom camaro ss style hood scoop

I put a 2.25" phenolic intercooler on my 2001 special edition and it raised the supercharger up too high so I had to install some spacers on the hood mounts and cut a bit of the frame out of the underside of the hood.

I decided to go with a custom 4th gen Camaro SS style hood scoop.

I stopped by the body shop today to inspect what they had done and was really happy with how it was turning out. Tomorrow they will paint the hood and scoop black.

Here are some pictures of the process.

i must say, that looks way better then i thought it would. cant wait to see it painted, that will tell the whole story of how it looks.

I will take some pictures of the huge hole they cut to get the clearance I needed. Yes it will be functional. I am probably going to look for some fiberglass mesh or some type of moldable filter that I can paint and put behind the opening, because I'm not sure how much dust it will let in.

we are going to put a protective layer on the scoop because the scoop was made of cheap plastic and didn't have much structural integrity. he told me it would look wavy if we didn't put the protective coating on it. he called it "Raptor"

I should be able to post more tomorrow. there are only 2 body shops in town. The dealership, and this one. the guy that runs this one worked at the dealership for 15 or 20 years.

The body shop screwed up the raptor coating, tried to take off the tape before it was dry. pictures to come later.

Jury out till I see it painted, lol (I'm never satisfied!)
; )

but great to see someone doing something undone before! Cheers!
