Cruise Control stopped working

Hello,

A few days ago when I was driving home I was using cruise control but had to slow down so I clicked the switch to the far left off position and when I could got back upto speed and tried to set the cruise control again yet this time it wouldn't work. I tried shutting off the car, tapping the breaks, checked the fuse and nothing helps. I am going on a long 12 hour drive at the end of this week and really will be needing cruise control to work or it's going to be a long trip :th_wtf: . If anyone can please help me on what I can do or if it is best for me to just take it to a shop? If i do take it in how much is it going to cost to get fixed? What is the likely problem? Thank you in advance!
 


I remember seeing some information stating that if the bulb(s) went out in your third brake light that that would cause the cruise control to not work. Dont ask me how, I just remember seeing that so it might be worth checking.

i remember reading this somewhere, but dont recall if it was for these cars or another GM product.. either way, doesnt hurt to check.

... though it could be the switch itself, also...
 
Tried it and the brake lights all work, I checked all my lights and everything is working. Still no cruise control. I made an apt. with a auto place close to my house I really wanted to get this fixed before I left on my trip friday though and they can't get me in till monday.

If anyone has anything i can try to check out please let me know I am up for any suggestions.
 


i am not sure, but maybe there is a fuse for the CC? i dont think there is, but woouldnt hurt to check
 
I'm pretty sure that the second cable on the throttle body controls your cruise control. My cruise control doesn't work either, and the little connector for my cable is broken. I found this topic while searching to see if that could be my problem. If this sounds right to anyone else, do you know where I can get a new connector? If you don't know what I'm talking about, I can take pics later.

Could you please post pictures of what you are talking about so I can check mine out? and dont worry about thread hijack lol we are on the same subject:th_thumbsup-wink:
 


i actually had this happen to me, but when i got my gauges installed by someone they ****ed something up and my brake lights stayed on causing my cruise control not to come on because it thinks i am pressing on the brakes...so make sure your tails are all good

dealer and yes the second cable controls the cruise control. that dealer may only sell the whole cable. not sure on that
