Crazy A/C problem(s)

So I have a 99 gtp with dual zone climate control... and it has some problems. The a/c does not blow cold at all. Just blows outside temp air. I checked to see if it needed any refrigerant with one of those cans from advance auto that has a pressure gauge on it. When connected to the low side port it was reading over 150psi. Yup on the low side. Additionally when I put the heater on hot air only comes out of the passenger side. So thats no cold air on either zone, and hot air only from the passenger zone. 150psi on the low pressure a/c line. what in the sam hell causes this non-sense? Any help is totally appreciated. Thanks in advance guys :)

Yup the fan kicks on. It moves air and when you set it to different modes (Face vents/feet vents/both) the air comes out of the proper vents.

That makes me sad lol. I really don't know a lot about A/C but I was afraid of having to take it in. No ideas on what could be causing this though? Kind of afraid of gettin ripped off at the shop.

some shops will will work with you and some wont, but you cant see if you can get a free est and they should tell you whats wrong, then you could maybe fix whats wrong your self and have them charge it back up for ya.

if you still have refrigerant in the system ask if they could vac it out and save it for you, so they can refill it after you are done doing repairs, they will charge for this but its better than letting it go in the air and to waste. and you know its charged up properly when your done.

150 psi sounds abnormal at best...............that's all I'm saying.

This website is good, but there is a guy over at clubgp.com that is an a/c guru, try to post up there and see what you get! Good luck!!!

I am having the exact same problem as the OP. I've checked for leaks in my system and have tried to recharge it. The A/C clutch fuse is blown as well, and every time I put a new one in, it blows as well. Upon further investigation, I found that the A/C compressor is not engaging. This leads me to believe that the A/C clutch might be bad. There is only one harness that leads to the compressor, and none of the wires seem to be damaged, but unfortunately, I can't seem to get the harness out. Check to see if your compressor is engaging at all.

check to see if the clutch is engaging, if not check for voltage at the connector. if no voltage check your fuses and relay for the a/c clutch. if all is good. then your clutch is shorted and needs replaced.

The clutch engages. By that I mean that when I turn the A/C on the center of the compressor pulley is turning, while if the A/C is off it stays stationary. Again I appreciate all the input. Even if I do end up having to take it to a shop its nice to get the insight of some others before hand. :)
