• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

So I bought my car less than 2 weeks ago. It's been great until today, as I'm headed to the town office to get it registered, it just dies. I coast to a stop, try restarting it, turns over fine. There's plenty of fuel in it so my father figures the fuel pump is prob dead.

Fortunately I bought it from a used car dealer, and they supposedly cover a full warranty on it for 30 days. I'm still pretty pissed tho. When I called the dealer, the guy didn't sound surprised even the least little bit. So I'm sure he knew this was coming when he sold it to me and was just praying that it didn't break until the 30 days went by. Now I'm just wondering what else this guy knows about, that he's not telling me.

Mine did damn near the same thing when i got it. Mine was a crank position sensor. To see if its the fuel pump turn the key on and listen if you hear the normal whine that it usually makes its not your fuel pump.

Take it back. Sounds like he knows whats wrong with him and if he did not tell you it is on them to either fix it or buy the car back.

That sounds very likely. I just did some research into that and found that there's a very simple way to check and see if that's the problem. I'm going to try that out tomorrow. Thanks!

My pleasure. I did not have the good fortune to know about the resistor, or the free "fix" to it, before having the car die. Luckily insurance covered most of the tow bill, and I figured out what it was before tossing parts at the problem. So, now I try and share that as soon as possible with anyone chasing this sort of problem.
