Crap acceleration and Horrible shift

Based on my results from what I know I think my torque converter is bad. I wanted to post here to double check. My torque converter stall speed test is 2500 rpm. My accelerations is aweful and when I accelerate I have to full throttle it then drop it down to shift when the engine maxes out in RPM.

I have a 2001 Grand Prix SE. All stock parts (I know kind of boring).
3100 SFI

Also been wondering if it would be a good idea to drop a 3800 in there while I was at it. Seen plenty of 3800's in the you pull it lot in bonnevills.
