Cooling Problem

ok so i have a weird problem going on and looking for some advice on where to start. Yesterday i put my new LIM and Ported Blower on. and then today the temp was going up to 210 and then back down to 170 and there was way to much pressure on the hose from the radiator to the T-stat housing, so i took out the T-stat thinking that could be the problem. Well the pressure didn't get bad at all it stayed where it needed to be, but the temp still did the same thing so i don't know what the problem could be. I flushed the system could there still be some gunk in there? or maybe the fans aren't working? any advice would really help. Also it only shoots up to 210 if i am sitting in traffic and does not do it if i am just driving

Do you have enough coolant in there? Do you have an coolant overflow bottle? The fans could be the issue. One easy way to check them is to turn your a/c on. Both fans should come on whether you just started the car and it's cold or if the car is hot. IF they don't both come on then that is your problem. Other wise you might just have to watch for the fans to come on after it gets to 210.

overflow is full along with everything else and i just checked the fans and they seem to be working just fine. What i did notice is that it seems that there is still some gunky stuff in the radiator, i saw it when i took off the cap. Also when ever you open the bleeder are you suppose to pour until coolant leaks out? because if you are mine isn't leaking out and no more coolant will fit in the radiator, alos i have verified what coolant is going into the LIM

The bleeded valve is just soppose to bleed any air in the lines. I personally have never used it. And I also have never come across a radiator that has been clogged up. Never. But it is possible.

I would flush it again and see where that gets you. Water pump is not seeping any water is it? Don't see how it could go bad without it making some kind of noise but I'd check it anyway.

water pump is newish only have 5,000 miles on it, but no water is seeping out of it. i guess i will try an flush it again and see where that get me, if that doesn't work then i don't know what i should do, would this be a good time to switch to just regular anti freeze or should i stick with the Dex-Cool?

I don't use anti freeze. Not even in the winter (it does not usually get below 30 here anyway) Water is the best substance for cooling on this earth. All anti freeze does is raise the boiling point and prevent the water from freezing. But to answer your question yes this would be a good time. Just use the green stuff for sure.

no anti-freeze = no corrosion protection = very bad things in the long term.

There is nothing wrong with Dex-Cool if you take care of the system. If you want to switch to something different, I would suggest a G-05 spec coolant, Zerex G05, Ford gold, or the newer Chrysler coolant.

well i just re flushed the system nothing leaked and the water was moving freely with no problem, no gunk or anything so i think i am going to leave the system filled up with water only and see what happens to the temp. Is there any way that the radiator could be the problem? some of the fins are pretty messed up maybe air isn't flowing threw it right? fyi the fins were smashed when i bought it. just never thought it would cause a problem

ok so i tried it with the water only still climbed up but it took about 20 mins. fan did not kick on until 2 lines under 210 so it that 200 maybe. at what temp should they kick on?

yea i got it all fixed now, i usually fill up the radiator then start the engine and then fill it more, but then i was talking to Parker (TDCRacing)last night and he suggested that i try to give it some gas which i did and it actually made more room for coolant which i didn't know it would do. The reason for my problem seemed to be because there was an air pocket in there so when i was stopped the coolant wasn't really flowing, but once i start going since the water pump was spinning faster it would shoot the coolant threw and cool down the engine really quick
