Cooling Issue

So I went to change out my water pump today, and just to be safe did a once over of the car. i found this:

I replaced that and my thermostat, and the car seemed fine. I drove it home(about a 30 min drive) and the gauge read about halfway the whole time, it did go up about 2 notches above half, but came back down. Then, I had to go run an errand and the car started to overheat again, I didn't let it get to the red. It got about 1 line before the red before I shut it off. Do you think its still the water pump. or something else...

did you bleed the air out of the system?

Also have you checked for leaks? are the coolant levels okay? Might be a faulty thermo even though it's new.

Yes, I bled the system for about 30 min, and all levels look goos still, no leaks

sounds like you have a persistant air bubble.
