Coolant Question

ILoveAudi

Never Be A Tim.
I'm doing a coolant system flush soon. I'm sure most of you know how that works, but I've heard some people talking about how dexcool sucks and that they use something involving green? I have no idea what this is, but it's supposed to not clump and get all sludgy (my problem) like dexcool does. Can someone fill me in?

Go to local auto parts store and just buy the regular green coolant. That's what u need. And yes dexcool sludges up. Just flush it all out really good

Dexcool is orange, add in air and its sludge.

Universal coolant is green or yellow and doesnt care about air.

So the reason your dexcool gets all sludgy is because somewhere in the cooling system air is reacting with the coolant.

buy straight antifreeze, not the 50/50 pre mixed crap.

do your flush, dump the rad again, or let it pump out the top hose, then dump that whole gallon in the rad, fire up the car, top it off with water. thats all you need.

the cheap stuff works just as good as name brand too, i use the store brands unless its on sale.

Then why does the car call for dexcool?! That's dumb lol

Anything GM says Dexcool.

Ford, Honda, BMW etc etc all call for a certain type of coolant aswell.

But for us the car can run any type of coolant it wants, you just can't ever mix the two. Thus a flush and fill is what we do, and more most places green coolant is way cheaper than dexcool.
