Coolant leak on 2002 Grand Prix GT 3800

Hi there....my daughter emailed me about a coolant leak on her GP. Her boyfriends father says he thinks that a hose is "missing". He put some duct tape over the leak to keep it from spraying all over. Before I make the trip there to see if its something I can fix myself, I asked her to take a few pics so I could narrow it down. Can anyone tell me what I may be looking at here? Is it maybe a heater line connecting to the water pump housing?

THanks for the quick reply! I haven't changed one of these before, how much of a pain is it? THat piece with the duct tape on it, does that just pull out of that housing? I assume that there is a loose heater hose flapping around in there somewhere?

In order to get to that your gonna have to remove the alternator, the alternator bracket and the accessory belt I believe

That is the heater hose. Remove alternator, remove alternator bracket. Pull and wiggle. there are 2 platic elbows like that that crack and leak. Replace with new style aluminum elbows. Do NOT use RTV or any other sealant. the orings seal just fine.

just make sure all 4 holes are cleaned out real good. you'll see a layer of crud thats filmed up inside the holes. i was albe to chip it off my holes with a pick.

its a easy repair, 12 bucks for elbows and a jug of coolant. good time to flush the coolant if its not been done. being its 1/2 flushed already.
