Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

Well, long story short my 2000 GTP cat gpt clogged up. Running supper rough, like no power at all. The exhust is pretty rusty, and it broke it into two right before the downpipe hits the resonator.

My question is, I am going to replace the whole exhaust at once, at the most cost effect manner. The main question is where the downpipe meets the engine, are they the same size on 97-03 GT and GTP and possible 04-06 dual exhausts aswell.

The two bolts that hold the downpipe to the engine, is there a simply way to get them off? They were a pain in the ass last time I changed a downpipe. Any pointers or advice would be appreciated

them bolts rust and fight, but if you had them off once you got good adds of them coming off again.

i got a ebay dual exhaust gtp cat back for my regal, bout 260 shipped. i had to add a hanger to the car for it, but mine came with a single muffler.

Yeah Have not had them off, I would take them off, then go get the full exhaust off another GT/GTP and put it on. When I put a 05 dual exaust on my 01 i wasnt missing any hangers.

lets just say if the bolts dont come out your best off if they snap vs strip out the heads. i had to cut the head off one of my bolts to get my dp off. used a angle grinder and its a tight area to use a 4 inch disc lol

As long as their interchangable I think ill manage. I got my last one of with impact gun and some extensions somehow

the rear manifold to downpipe Bulls are actually studs with nuts and it's best to break them free and take them off while the engine is still hot or at least the exhaust is hot. I do this when replacing the O2 sensor as well makes things way easier.

They should be the same 97-08, but none of the 97-08s came with dual exhaust. Its a single exhaust that splits in the rear.

The downpipe isn't held to the engine. It is held to the rear exhaust manifold. As Turbocharged400sbc said, heat definitely helps. ProTip: Don't use any kind of penetrating chemicals if the exhaust is hot unless you have a fire extinguisher handy.

I got it. I let pb blaster soak on the bolts overnight. Went and sprayed more onto them and got a crazy amount of extensions. I figured out which ones are going to be needed for each side, then let engine run for about a minute and exhaust was hot.

One broke loose easily, the other one was stuck and i snapped the nut off. Now I need to grind it all off? And run a new bolt through it? Heres the exhaust, the exhaust was red hot when it started running funny. Its a 2000, so any whatever year 99-06 with dual exhaust is what I need?

My buddy actually had a 98 I believe coupe that he crashed and was parting out. Told me I could have the exhaust off it before he scrapped it. His is a coupe GT, and mines a GTP sedan I assume it should fit just fine?

Perfect. Any easy ways to break this bolt off the exhaust manifold? I'll have to look at it this week hope it's not too big of a pain
