Control arm replacement

I recently replaced both control arms, wheel bearings, and front brakes on my Regal GS.

I installed the moog control arms and it was fine after I put it all back together, but the zerk fitting on the drivers side a arm started leaking a ton of grease, I'm pretty sure it released most of it. I've since replaced the zerk fitting and filled it back up with grease but it's still popping, I un did the sway bar endlinks to make sure it wasn't them and it still makes noise. It pops when I turn, stop, accelerate, wtf? Did I ruin this ball joint?

Are you sure the strut mounts arent making this noise??

The ball joint should be fine still, it would take a more than a little time to destroy the ball joint. You had already greased it, so there should have been plenty to keep it happy even though it pushed some of it out.

I'm honestly not sure, what's a good way to check?

How long are we talking? I drove it for a few days until I noticed the popping.

I have had the same issues for the past year with my moog LCA's. I get the pop/clunk when going up an uneven surface such as a drive way. I too thought it was the sway bar endlinks but they are not. It is not the strut mounts either. I will more than likely replace the ball joints on them and while I'm at it swap the bushing out to the better one.

I installed my set yesterday and when letting the car down I heard a clunk. I currently don't have my end links attached but I wondered if it's a problem with the CA themselves.

I didn't preload mine, the sound doesn't change when I un bolt the sway bar endlinks completely.

The next thing I'm thinking is that the inner tie rod ends are ****ed in the rack, the strut mounts are cracked but I don't hear any noise coming from them.

More money I guess..

You should be able to duplicate the sound with the car in the air, especially with the endlinks disconnected. Just grab stuff and move it up and down until you run across something with play. You can shove a crow bar into the LCA and move it up and down a bit and you'll feel play. If need be you can lay under the tie rod(s) and grab them almost like a bench press bar and jiggle it, if there's play, you'll feel it. The clunk you are hearing is play somewhere, the weight is shifting.

Don't forget to check the sway bar bushings. If they are worn and the bar moves up and down inside the bushing it can make a similar sound.
