First off I have a 2008 grand prix 3.8 v6. The problem I am having is all my gauges will drop to 0. My tach, speedometer, oil, and gas gauges will just drop to 0. My cruise will not work either. Also on the display it will flash low fuel, I guess since the gauge reads empty, and check theft security or something of that nature. It has happened to me twice now. The first time I went to write down the message I got the next morning and everything seemed to be working fine so no message. I called autozone and had them check it, but showed no bad codes. I called a local dealer and asked about it and the guy said he has never heard of that, and told me that since everything seems to be working, they wouldn't find anything either and said to keep driving it and see if it happens again lol. I was just hoping to see if anyone has had a similar problem. Thanks.

I had a problem like this once, the wire that goes from the alternator to the starter was grounding to something metal after some of the insulation had melted off. It caused all my litle warning lights to flash and gauges to go wild. I remember first thinking my pcm was toast but it was the charging system grounding out.
