College kills Cars! :(

The past few months have been hell on the GP. A few months back I had a new windshield put on, and that same weekend while driving back to school on I29 I tagged a deer. Took out both of my aftermarket headlights on the driver side as well as the fog light. Also put a nasty dent in the driver side fender and foo-barred the hood. I just got the headlights ordered, decided to put in 8000k high beam, and yellow ion low beams instead of 8000k all around. Put new fogs from autozone in and replaced the fender, had it painted, then had the whole car re-pinstriped since it was fadin. Spent around $300 getting that stuff, so all I need is a hood right? well just before spring break my car gets hit in the school parking lot! wtf... I always park in the back of the lot so this doesn't happen, makes no sense! I just happened to notice a red car that had a scuff and some cracks on the bumper 3 spaces over from mine, and told the cops that could be the car that hit mine. It was!!! the chick admitted it, so I will be getting some new paint and new plastic. Freebiee! she will be getting a hit and run ticket, as well as a much higher insurance rate.:th_nanana: Finally caught a break!

LOOKING FOR A HOOD! '92-'96 w/louvers preferrably

i know the feeling man, i've got a few pretty awesome door dings from my time in BG. not to mention what the snow did. it was pretty rough on the weather stripping and froze my passenger window to the top of the car. me, not knowing it, went to put it down one day and ripped it out of the track. fixed it last week. i got back from spring break sunday and have a pretty good parking spot. as i'm getting all my stuff together and putting my stereo faceplate away, a girl in a suzuki vitara (it's like a geo) zips in next to me at like 20mph and comes within 6 inches of drilling my right rear fender. so as i'm staring at her in shock she decides that she doesn't like that spot, cranks the wheel even though there's nothing behind her, and floors it, getting even closer to hitting my car. i promplty moved to the back row.

college does kill cars. i started school the first week of october 2008, and by the first week of october 2009, 30,000 miles have went by in a single year! i usually drive 300 to 500 miles a week considering i drive the 95 mile trip from warren, ohio to glassport (south of pittsburgh) twice a week along with daily driving. and now my hood and bumpers have tiny chips in the paint...yay

I hear ya! I drive 288 miles to school from home 2 or 3 times each semester. Last summer when I first got the car the paint was flawless, now after all that highway miles there's little pits in the paint from stones. As ugly as they are I'm going to get a deflector for the front and put it on when winters coming.

Plus where I go to school it gets down to -20 degrees and they use sand and salt for the roads. So much that when the snow melts there's literally mounds of sand leftover. It looks like a beach outside.

And then yes, the parking lot. Door slammers and people that can't park to save their life. My goal is to get my deadlift so strong that I can physically move cars like that.

yeah the sand and salt, yuck! totally destroys paint... they probably put as much sand/salt down as there is snow... stupid... that mn and sd for ya

BG's grounds crew ruined a pair of shoes for me haha. there was so much down you couldn't touch the sidewalk even before the snow came, you were walking on an inch of salt

yeah in a year and a half i'll be going to school 3 hours away. guess i'll look into getting a bra for it by then, just for the long drive

^^^yea i though about it, then realized i wouold be too lazy to put it on and off all the time and figured id take the touch up paint route for now

So far I have been lucky with the door dings, but I park farther away than anyone except for this one really nice Z34 Lumina that is always out in the same area. It feels like I'm a mile out!

****, just 2 weeks after i got my car some redneck backed into my trunk lid. Just the right height for a ball hitch but no paint came off so im SOL

You guys all complain about having a car to drive a college, but some of us had to leave it at home, where it gets no love or attention for long periods of time, as in months, but i guess the trade off would be no drunk college kid pulls a hit and run on it.

i honestly thought about leaving mine at home for the winter to save some wear and tear and keep it from getting hit anymore but i decided against it. i use it way too much to be without it
