• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

Cold start problems

I know I'm still new around here but ive searched this and cant seem to find any info on here about this. I have a 99 gtp and now that its getting a little cooler out after the car has been sitting while im at work or overnight in the garage when I start it, it stalls out right away. It takes about 3 tries to finally stay running I have to hold the gas down and bring the rpms up to about 3000 for about a minute then it will hold an idle. I have cleaned the mass air and the IAC valve. Once the car is warm its not an issue. I can shut it of and start it back up an hour later with no issue. I'm hoping sombody could point me in a direction of what else to check. Thanks in advance. Joe

Might be time to remove the throttle body and clean it good inside and out. The back of the butterfly valve (part of it facing the intake) usually gets carboned up pretty good. Then replace the IAC. Cleaning them is usually just a bandaid if they aren't working correctly.

Took the throttle body off and cleaned it. It was nasty. Did replace the IAC and the car started right up this morning, no stalling and idles smoother than ever. Thank you.
