Cold air/Short ram Intake

Gorak

New member
i was wanting to install a basic short ram intake(cone filter with small elbow pipe) purely for the sound i did it to my Aveo and it sounds cool but i was never expecting power gains, ive done this to all my cars now that i think about it... anyway, i recently aquired a 97 Olds 88. not supercharged, and next to the air box is a small plastic screw-down cover and under it is an electric module of some kind. it has a disclaimer about not over-torquing its bolts. its apparently important since its between the fender and air box, away from heat... im sure i would have to put in a heat shield and keep the plastic cover, but WHAT is this electric box??? i cant find anything anywhere. pics of similar setups would be appreciated.

cant tell from that pic. i can only see the top it has heat reflective/ insulation surrounding it... wish i could post pics. if someone could find pics of the engine bay, its bout the same as the then generation LeSaber. 3800 series 2. i cant seem to find much on google either.

There shouldn't be anything in the engine bay that can't handle heat or water. My guess is it's the pcm anyways, which we all let dangle in the breeze.
