Cold Air Intake

Hey guys, I am making the attempt to build my own cold air intake on my 1998 Grand Prix GTP, but I have some questions in which I am hoping can be answered:
1) I've tried my research, and I may just be missing something, but would I need a 4" air intake pipe? Or a 3"? This decifers the size of filter I need to buy as well.
2) Has anyone else made this attempt, and built a properly function housing for one? If so, could I get the dimensions?
3) Do you have any tips or suggestions on me doing this?
If I could get some answers and help that would be great! :th_thumbsup-wink: Thank you very much!

P.S. Sorry if this is posted in the wrong section, I am new to this forum.

i used a 3 inch pvc elbow. one side is 3 inches, the other fatter side (where the next pipe would be glued in) is 4 inches. 4 inch filter fits right on the end.

the other side get a coupler and 2 hose clamps one side goes on the TB the other to the elbow.

you need to drill a hole for the ait sensor too. find a drill bit that fits into the stock hole, then drill it in the pvc pipe. i used some gorilla glue to seal it in there.

if your want to paint it, hang it with a string and a pencil to hold the string sand it up a bit, then paint it.

This is how my FWI turned out.

2 22° bends and a straight section. I also have heat reflective tape to wrap it in.

that so sweet looking..

you can also shop at the ricer section of pep boys for chrome pipes like posted above lol that that he did. just saying.

That stuff is super thin plastic and heats up a lot my buddy just had to make one using that and it actually melted my PVC stays super cold and absorbs zero heat I'm quite happy with it
