Clunking Noise...

Bedwards

New member
Hey guys. Within the last month or so, my 2001 Grand Prix GT has been making a clunking noise from the front end (I think the passenger side). The only way it really happens is when I'm driving down a ramp or driveway, and pull onto flat ground. I know several different suspension components could cause this, but I just wanted to see what you guys think. Thanks!

I think it's time to jack that side up and look around.

Check balljoint and strut mount, sway end links, sway bar ends, sway center bushings. Those are the most common clunk items.

Mine clunks and it is the ball joint, I'll get around to it if we get a warm day, but really the only way to figure it out is to get under there and check out the things Bill listed

I am also getting a noise from the same area but also causes my car to shake like hell around 40-45 mph. Not a clue what it may be but its snowing like crazy so i won't be able to look at it today.

just replaced the swaybar link on my 04. had a light clunk on rough roads. as said before could be a sway bar, strut(or upper strut mount), end link, etc
