Climate Control Lights - 2004 Grand Prix GT2 with heated seats

I have a 2004 Pontiac Grand Prix GT2 with heated seats. Inside the climate control (CC) I have a couple of lights that burnt out and I want to replace them. I already took the CC out and opened the unit to make sure I had access to the lights. They are soldered in but not a problem. I just need to know if anyone knows the voltage (12v or 14v) and size of bulb (3mm, 4mm, 4.7mm) to put in there. I am not talking about the led bulbs but regular two prong incandescent bulbs.

I replaced several of those bulbs on my 06. I just brought the panel with the old bulbs to Radio Shack and matched them up to what they had there. I used 12 volt bulbs and they have been fine for over a year now. Good luck.

To be on the safe side I ordered all three 14v bulbs. 3mm, 4mm, and 4.7mm bulbs online from Ebay. 4mm was the correct ones and they were the exact size and brightness as the original. Installation was a breeze. Took the radio cover off, then unscrewed the 4 screws holding the climate control and storage bin (under the climate control). Carefully unplugged the wiring harness from the back of the climate control so I could work on the unit in the house. Removed the screws from the back of the climate control unit. Remove the knobs from the front of the climate control. Then pulled the unit apart into two pieces. Took unit back into car and plugged wiring harness in to see which lights were burnt out. Turned on lights and found I had three bulbs burned out. Turned off lights & car. Unplugged wiring harness and took unit back into house. Used thin wire cutters to cut off the burnt bulbs from the circuit board leaving just the stubs of the bulbs sticking out (so I had something to solder the new bulbs leads to). Then I heated up the soldering gun and worked some magic to get the new bulbs to be soldered and solid and in the correct position. Before I put the unit back together I once again took it back into the car, plugged in the wiring harness, turned on the lights, and verified that the new lights were working. All were so started the process of putting everything back together. Shut off car, unplugged wiring harness, took it into basement. Put front cover back on and secured it with the screws. Pushed the 3 knobs back on. Then took unit back out to the car for re-installation. Plugged the wiring harness back in, pushed the climate control and storage bin back into the hole in my dash, screwed them in, snapped back on the dash trim piece, and then turned on the car one last time to check the work. All lights now working! Took 30 minutes total with most of it being the soldering and running in & out to test the unit. Good Luck!

PS - Do not use 12v bulbs. The 3mm bulbs are smaller than original and will be dimmer, and the 4.7mm are bigger and will be brighter than original.

Is there a bulb number that you used? We have an electronics house locally that may stock that bulb. I've got to do the same job to my control head.
 
How did you get the control head apart? I took mine apart, but cannot seem to get the board off of the front so I can get to the light bulbs. I could probably keep prying, but I don't want to break it.
 


I'd like to attempt is process for a couple of newly burnt out bulbs on my 2007 Grand Prix. Does anyone have a link to the bulbs on eBay or Amazon or something? Thanks for any help!
