Climate control issues!

Alright, I have a 2002 Pontiac Grand Prix GT and the climate control is completely screwed up. The blower works, you can change it to all five levels and off and it responds accordingly, but the direction of air flow will not change. It is stuck on pushing air out the defroster vents, dash vents, and floor vents. It also randomly changes from cool air coming out the passenger side to going hot. Got any advice or suggestions? Also the key keeps getting stuck in the ignition on accy and I always have to use the release lever underneath the steering column, I have thought about just removing the safety switch but just wondering if you have any suggestions on that either.
Thanks!

is it the auto climate or manual? also, you can remove that solenoid but i didnt tell you that b/c it is a safety device.

I have the same problem on my 98 gtp getting ready to go look at it if I find the problem I will let you know.

I have exactly same issues. I have read before that key stuck is verry common and some times hard to pin point actual problem, and in worst scenario its solenoid in the gear box somewhere. This why its not reacts to being on park. There whole diagram that you have to go through and find what causing it.

And blower same thing. Plus i had the problem that it wasn't even blowing on all the speeds only high but that was blower resistor that i had replaced.

The blower thing happen to me once, check your knob. Mine was actually broken. The key thing could be an indicator of some electrical issue or a laundry list of other things. You can fix the problem for free if you Zip tie the bypass. I did it two weeks ago. I'm not sure what safety feature I circumvented, I just wanted my key back.

I've had similar issues with my 97. Hot air worked (i never tried cold since it was winter), Blower worked but moving the switch that controls which vent the air comes out did almost nothing. Turns out the vacuum line for the climate controls was disconnected under the hood.
