Clicking in the shifter ANNOYING

I just bought a automatic 99 GTP and the shifter makes a very annoying clicking noise whenever I'm coming up to a stop, or turning usually. I was wondering if anyone else had this problem. I don't want to take it to a dealership or shop and pay a bunch of money for nothing. Any help would mean a lot.
 


Can you give more details about the clicking noise in your shifter? Are you sure that's where the noise is coming from?

And btw. I love how you distinguish it as an automatic GTP. If only we had another option :p
 
The harness on the release solenoid on the shifter is likely broken the wires flex so much from daily shifting from park to drive they break. You'll have to take a look then just wiggle the wires

Haha I wasn't sure if there was a manual so I figured I'd sound dumb saying there might be one and it almost sounds like there's something trying to move or spin but its in drive so it just makes a clicking whenever I get bumpy or accelerating, but it doesn't sound like its just squeaking. You can feel the clicking in the rod connecting to the actual shifting knob the metal part under the leather covering.
