Cleaning up the engine bay

SLO-6

New member
Ok so i think its time to do a lil cleaning. Iv never cleaned my engine. Its not all that dirty but it needs to be cleaned. And im almost sure that the previous owner wasnt taught how to clean. so any ways to clean up? Especially the Eaton :th_biggrin2:

Cover your alternator, intake(if you have a cold air, or exposed filter), and coil pack. Make sure your engine is cold and spray it with simple green, let it sit for about 10 min, then hose it off. Dont use a lot of pressure when washing it off.

He basically covered all grounds, if you want the blower looking nice the best thing to do is a port and polish.

i don't even go that far just make sure that your wires are tight on the coil

1. warm up engine for a little while ( i let mine run for about 1-2 minutes)

2. Spray a 50/50 Simply Green with water mixture onto you engine and or engine bay

3. Let soak for about 10 minutes

4. Spray off with a water hose

5. Then let dry

you shouldn't really have to use a power washer, and for tough spots i just spray simple green and scrub it by hand

okay this may sound dumb but what are the copper or goldish lines on top of the eaton???? i really want that to be super cleann

Yup, fuel lines and they can be cleaned with any metal polish, i have used flitz which works really well. Im sure other have had good experiences with other products as well.

Not sure but most autostores [around me any way] have a decent selection of metal polish and anti varnish. Choose one that seems promising, you will put it to good use i'm sure. When i realized my dad had flitz i started using i on everything [metal of course].
