I'm looking for something that can check kr and not pay $300 for a little computer, I heard of apps that you can use on the iPhone with a Bluetooth adapter but idk which app work and what adaptor to get

I don't know about the iPhone Apps but the torque app for android works pretty good. The adapter is the elm 327 bt adapter
 
You can get an aeroforce for 225 new. Or 150-170 used if you're patient and wait til someone puts one up for sale.
 
I wouldnt bother getting a scangauge unless you actually plan to mod the motor. Otherwise you will get one, see lots of KR and ask why is this happening on a stock motor.
 


There is an app on the iPhone called Rev. But those apps suck. Refresh rate blows. Tuner or AeroForce is the only way to go.
 
I don't know about the Iphone apps, but the Android has no problems with refresh rates at all. My Torque Pro pulls in 20-30 PID\S on BT and 40-50 PID\S on USB. As a matter of fact, after talking with Ian Haskins (Torque Pro developer), our cars are the limiting factor in these speeds. The OBD adapters (quality ones) can pull in upwards of 200+ PID\s, but these older cars don't read the sensors that fast. PID\s is basically a sensor read per second. So it'd be checking your knock retard 20+ times per second.

Well, then I offer some advice... You've gotta PAY to play! If you are already worried about what you'll pay to scan and monitor your engine while modding, you're doomed to failure.

$18 seems cheap, they've been tested by many of us, and it's as fast as the PCM can provide data. Seems like all 3 to me?
 


Test the refresh rates by running them in your car. Forget what the developers are telling you. You WILL see a refresh rate difference.
 
Lol, I have. Torque Pro tells you how fast it is reading inside the program, You just have to goto the adapter settings and it'll tell you the current and average read rates.
