Charging System Failure

Soooo... I run HID's in my car and sometimes when they go on the left doesn't power on so I will turn headlights off then turn them back on then both power on. Last week it happened and when I flipped them off and back on the DLC said "charging system failure". Seemed odd so I was like what ever and went about my day... Today it did it again and it came up on my DLC so I turned of and back on and it popped up on DLC. I also have a relay harness that goes to the battery because before my alt was making a buzzing noise because HIDs and after the buzzing noise went away.

Any idea what is going out?

I just had this happen. Do you have a charge gauge in the DIC? If so, what readings are you getting?
In my case, the alternator was going bad.

Take the car to AutoZone they can test your alternator to see if its going bad. You headlights those sounds like a bad grounds possibly.

Took the alternator for the deceased '04 to Pep Boys and they checked it for me. Said it was good. Reinstalled it and bought a new battery. Next day car shut off again. Replaced the alternator and it ran beautifully after that. So what I am saying is don't put too much credence in an alternator check. Replace it unless you have the time to do the job twice

I typically make them test it 3 or 4 times if it tests good the first run. I can't tell you how many times I got the "It shows good". I would ask them to run it again and usually by the 3rd or 4th time it would start failing their test.

This! Had it test fine the first 1 or 2 times then I'll have it tested again and it fails the next 2 or 3 more times. I can't tell you how many times I had one pass just to take it back home and install it and then coming out to a dead battery once again.
