Charging System Failure

Hi guys, I have a 2004 GP GT 80,000 miles. I have had it since late 2003, and only had 1 problem with it (heater blower motor) until now. I have been getting a Charging System Failure light, The voltage jumps around from 13V to over 15V as I drive. The whole electric system shuts off for a second and restartes. I lose my time and date from the DIC. Anyone have any ideals.

sounds like a battery problem to me... maybe like its losing connection for a sec or two. The volt meter on our cars measures volts from the alternator, so you cant be sure the volts reading on the dic is what the battery actually has

sounds like the voltage regulator on the alternator is gone actually. the car should never really see above 14V or so.
