changing to a l67

so i recently came across the chance to buy a l67 for 350 dollars, charger to oil pan,no computer or harness, but does need to be rebearing and ringed, does it sound like a good buy and what else other that harness and computer externally will be needed, also what l67 build tips does anyone have for me,ant help would be greatful, thank you:th_jester:

How do you know if it needs to have new bearings installed? May be better off just buying a high milage one that you know runs ok...Then rebuilding it.

the guy used to work with me and said it ran when they pulled it,and it is pulled apart already,so now you guys got me thinking maybe to just do a top swap, any suggestions?

a top swap isnt going to be cheaper than a $350 motor, but a motor that needs to be rebuilt isnt worth $350.

id expect anywhere from $600-1000 for a motor swap and anywhere from $400-800 for a top swap.

Is a top swap anywhere as reliable as a whole swap would be,im new to the grand prix's,only had it a few months but love it and not sure where to start on playing around with it

With a top swap you will be running higher compression. It can be as reliable as just putting in an L67, but you must have enough supporting mods to run the supercharger. A scan gauge is your best friend.

anything is reliable if you put it together correctly and tune it well. youll need some mods in order to not knock with an l36 block an l67 top end.

Top swap is what I was going to suggest also. Do that, get you supporting mods, and have a heck of a car.

Only thing you will really need to buy is a adapter plate for the throttle body. 90 bucks. And the rest is just putting back the s/c and LIM. That's it really.
