Hey guys got an 02 prix with 3800. 91k miles. Just put new plugs and wires in it and a pcv valve now when i sit with it idling it will almost hiccup and drop from 1000rpm to 800 then back to 1000 then hiccup and back to 800 and so on. Any ideas what could be causing this. Also what other types of preventative maintenance is required for these motors arround my mileage. Im a jeep guy and the straight 6 im used to is way different than these 3800s. Thanks in advanced for the help

Check the wires, make sure you've put them back correctly... Is my guess, assuming you've gapped the plugs correctly too. ; )

double check the wires. make sure the back wires are not touching the o2 wires.

There all on there correctly. Thanks for the picture thats a great visual aid. I would have thought that if i screwed up the order it wouldnt run correctly under throttle but it seemed to run just fine and was not missing or sputtering under load just at idle

one wire off can act like that. both sides of the coil fire at the same time, cross one up, and it can miss at idle, and drive fine.

look for a busted vac line, maybe you leaned on one and it snapped or came off. you can always spray carb cleaner around the vac lines, see if the idle jumps up, if it does you found the leak area.

oh, the pvc, make sure thats pushed into the o ring in side the sc.

The only o ring i seen was the red one on the peice that had to twisted off to get to the spring and then the pcv valve is there supposed to be another o ring?

are you n/a or supercharged? sc has a o ring down at the bottom the valve fits into. n/a im unsure cause i dont have they style.

Im n/a. Dorman sells a kit that has two o rings so my guess is the original owner had it changed and never kept the o ring or it fell off.

Its very easy to crack a plug doesn't take much at all. If its a cracked plug go romp and do some wot if u feel it stuter push hard try get an engine code then you can figure out what u did wrong. Change the in line fuel filter I forgot to do that and feel dumb now about it run half bottle sea foam in the gas tank other half in the vacuum line some one may have to rev it to 2000 rpm while doing the vac line for you. The sea foam will clean fuel injectors and valves for you. You can go to a cone air filter little better breathing
