change oil light.

for the first 5mins. or so of starting my car, the "change oil soon" light is on. can this be due to a bad oil pump? or something else? my engine suffers from the infamous "ping" that some people say is bad rings and others say is bad valves. and also has about 270, ooo kms. but still runs very strong, aside from the noise.
 


The oil life meter needs reset every time you change the oil. If you didn't reset it last time you changed the oil, that's why it's coming on. If you did reset it, it may be time for another change. To reset it, put the key in the run position with the car off and press the accelerator to the floor three times.
