car starts in cold then shuts off unless I immediately apply gas.

well like the title says the car starts at warm temp no problem, but when very cold last winter the car would start for about 2 secs and then shut off unless I applied the gas as soon as it starts. I'm hoping to fix this before it gets to cold again as I'm worried maybe that the applying the gas trick might not work forever, but I'm pretty new to this diagnosing and fixing my own car stuff, so any help would be appreciated. Thanks a lot.

And you drive a what??

But anything tune up related always comes to mind. New plugs/wires, clean the throttle body and MAF sensor with their correct cleaners. Perhaps if you have a L36 motor, the fuel pressure regulator becomes weak in the cold and it could die right away.

Check your throttle body, it most likely is your culprit. I have a 2004 that was stalling like yours. You have to use "Throttle Body Cleaner". Better safe than sorry, and its not too expensive. Easy job too.

I was just looking online and some people were saying that when finished cleaning a throttle body sometimes the computer will be out of sync when the car is idling. What precautions should I take regarding that? Thanks.

Did a search my 08 Base us doing the same thing. Just did a tune up with new plugs and wires and did not fix the issue. Thinking it might be a dirty MAF. Where you able to fix your issue?
