Ok, here is my problem... I have a 97 GT with topswap done.. When I get in the car it will shift just fine....until i turn it off, Then 9times out of ten after i restart it, it wont shift from 2nd to 3rd at all. If i turn the car off again and start it after a while it will shift fine again until yes.. i turn it off. I got it scanned and the only code that came up was P0717 input shaft speed sensor no signal? is there a problem with the tranny or my pcm not reading my tranny, Im really stuck here, any help would be great. Thanks:th_sick2:

oh god, a top swapped 97. you just opened a whole new can of worms with that. you should have saved yourself a ton of hassle and just done a motor and transmission swap. that vacuum controlled tranny you got right now will never work well with the blower setup without a retarded amount of stupid work. i would kill myself if i would be in your situation.

all i have to say is good ****ing luck.

wow, really that bad. i thought it might be the pcm tune,i was going to get it fixed?? aside from the changing it there is nothing i can do?? Is the tranny a b@$$#ch to get out..

Ummm is that a serious question?

You either gotta pull the motor or drop out the entire subframe and pull it from the bottom.

if you would have asked the question 'should i top swap my 97 GT?' i would have said 'hell no. get a transmission and motor combo and drop it in.'

seriously, it just does not work well at all.

Ok, i went and got my pcm tuned from a gm specialist, and wow it shifts just like new now. dont know what he did but problems are all gone.

It might...like Bio said. the '97's had a vacuum powered transmission and they were prone to having mucho problems...

I'd save up your money and get a a race tranny built for it but Dave from Triple Edge Performance. Then you'll NEVER have any issues again :D
