cant wire adapter for the steering wheel controls

Ok so sorry I didn't search because on my phone but I tried to hook up the adapter for my steering wheel controls and when I programmed it the volume went all the way up and I couldn't put it back down. I followed the instructions but maybe I'm missing something.... help?
