Can't open glove box - 2004 Pontiac GP2

Just purchased a 2004 Pontiac GP2 and happened to come across this Forum. Car is in great shape and runs beautiful. Everything is in good working condition except for the HUD and the stupid glove box. Will look at the HUD issues later but would like to get the glove box working...

Unable to open the glove box - I can lock and unlock it but the latch doesn't release the catch to open the compartment.

Anyone have any insight on what it might be - broken latch, or possibly a line to the latch is broken or missing. Regardless would like to figure out how to get at the glove box to fix it... Hate to have to remove the dash but willing to do it if that's the problem.

Sounds like the latch assembly broke. Had this happen on a Cavi once. The only way I got into it was to remove all the bolts/screws that hold it to the hinge at the bottom and managed to get a small screwdriver in the latch to pop it.
