Cant Get Car Out Of Park

Hey everyone, im new to the site and I have a question. I have a 98 GrandPrix GT 3.8. My car wont go into drive when the car is started, it takes alot and strenth to get it to switch over to drive. I had this problem a year ago and the dealership who fixed it took out the safty release switch and I had no problems with it untill now. I used to have to take out the littel change holder thing and stick my hand in there and switch over the little switch and it would work, but now that doesnt work. Also I cant get my key out after I start the car and start driving...thats not a huge problem because for now, I just use the little hole under the stearing wheel to relase the key. I dont know if that has anything to do with it, just thought I would add it to the post to see if it helps. If someone can help me with this it would really be appreciated...thanks.:th_angry2:

The dealership took out the shift safety switch? That sounds illegal, and like something that could void your insurance...
