Can I put ROTARY GEAR SHIFTER to GXP?????

Hello everybody,
as the title says, how can I put a rotary gear knob to a GXP?
has anyone tried that yet?
how can I do it?

uh, you sure your not talking about paddle shifters/TAPshift like the CompG GP's?

you can do anything with enough money

keep in mind the leverage required to move the shifter arm through the detents would require a knob about 4-6" in diameter and a strong wrist. or youll have to use a gear reduction and then youll have a few turns of the knob before it gets to drive.
 
you dont want a rotary gear shifter in your car those kill people.....

yes, Im talking about the 5.3L V8 GXP edition which is with the tap-shift mode. I want to get rid off the manual gear shifter and to replace it with a rotary gear knob....

it couldn't work by electronic way like the recent cars who have this thing?
 


Same, all the 04+ cars are still driving a cable that attaches to the transmission range switch. You would have better luck getting a ratchet shiftier to work or you would need solenoids (or air cylinders with supporting accessories) and stops to move the selector the correct distance.

I think all the current ones are based on being fully electronically controlled, your trans isn't...that's the piece you would need to solve. Which would require some method of moving the manual valve.

Having built a few transmissions, I know that all the resistance we feel is from a roller detent. Without the roller in place the valve moves nice and easy. What you'd be missing is a soleniod or more to move that valve appropriately. There isn't really a way I can see to do it internally and externally would also be difficult
 


Not that I know of.

There really isn't a way for a car company to make a dial turn the manual valve inside the transmission. That's why everything has a cable and pulls it into position.

All push button and rotary/dial style selectors use fully electronic transmissions to switch between gears.
 
It sounds to me like you want to do this because it "looks fancy." The questions you ask prove your knowledge is very limited and you're going to be likely to spend more on this "mod" than what the car is worth and it won't make the car any more fancy.
