Can I delete traction control in the pcm file?

I know.. strange question. I was dorking around in the blue turd yesterday and decided to just floor it from a dead stop. Of course it didn't hook but I didn't care. When I got home I noticed on the scan log that I saw a solid 13-15 degrees of KR on just on the launch :th_thumb-down:(wheels were spinning). Then it hooked and I went on with my day. No other real KR when I go wide open, just on the launch.

Now. The interior is gone except for a driver and passenger seat. Center console gone, everything. So that means the traction control button is gone. Is that KR that I got from launching caused by traction control? My low trac light didn't come on either (is that because the button is gone?). Nothing else was knocking around, just the tires spinning.

I have since put the traction button back but I didn't have time to test it again while its turned off.

I know i could just pull the ABS fuse but that's not what I'm trying to accomplish. I'm assuming there some table in the bin (DHP) that is for torque management? I wasn't sure what/where to change it.

Any ideas?

iirc ive seen some thing in my 98 regal file. it may have been tt too. no idea where it was tho, trans file is my guess.

Hmm so the traction on/off wouldn't have anything to do with it? I know normally if you spin the tires the car would pull timing. But since I didn't have the on/off switch does that disable traction control? I didn't see any low track or any other idiot lights came up and it didn't pull any timing.

So back to the torque management.. anything specifically in there I can look for? I don't have my laptop with me so I'll dork around with it when I get home.

is that a good thing? or can torque management be safely disabled to reduce the kr?

Yes, most tuners get rid of all the torque management settings or lower it so reduce the KR.

I just can't remember where in the bin I need to change/delete the settings.

my tune has been done by overkill and I can see my torque management have been changed, but that's about all I can understand. if you were using hp tuners I could tell you where the table is, but I'm not sure with dhp.

13 to 15 degrees of KR. What does it take to chip a piston? I saw 3.2 degrees shifting into third and I was worried. I have traction control disabled and have done monster burn outs never saw any KR.

Thanks man. That's what I was looking for. Guess I'll fire up the lappy386 tonight and change some stuff :).

Well I disabled the above that Mguzzo posted but still is happening. I went to the track today to get a couple full passes but it didn't go well. Here's a screen shot of the launch/KR.

I know my a/f (EGR) is super rich and that's fine. I'll deal with that later. I just fixed an exhaust leak on the header and it spiked lean and didn't compensate for it. On the burnout I got about 13-14 degrees of KR still. I was going to change the plugs (random misfires) but couldn't find my gapper anywhere.

Any other ideas? I know I'm missing something.. somewhere.

you got a lot of misfires, all the kr is at low rpms too. stops at 4200. whats up with the misfires? you sure you got the plug wires on right. its esy enough to mix two up and it will run pretty good.

They're on right. I had another set of plugs at home but didn't put them in. I haven't scanned the car since I posted this.

I ended up fixing it. DOHCZ34(chris) changed a bunch of settings that I forgot to change. Torque management, copying the good fuel spark tables to the bad/mean, etc. Just a few other things. Loaded that file up and changed the plugs when I got home and did a nice launch with zero KR. Seems to be fixed now. The misfires went down a lot too after the plugs but there's still a few. The wires are old and I just had them in the garage. I'll pick up another cheap set this week and see what it does.

It's also rich as FFF. 9.5 a/f FTW (not really). I got it up to high 10's now. Hopefully next Sunday will net me mid 12's. My 2nd run today I went 14.5@ 99 with a junk 60'.
