camaro left me wishing for my cobalt

yeah, you read the title right. i work at a dealership, and we do a pre-delivery inspection on all our cars, where we have to put about 10 miles on them. so i took out a 2012 camaro... base model. not even the RS appearance package. 6 speed manual and everybody's favorite 3.6 V6. the transmission was terrible, the clutch was a joke, and that engine is a POS. couldn't see out of it, never found a gear that made the car happy... absolutely hated the car. so i went to take chevy's creation onto the highway on an on-ramp with a 2 into 1 lane thing going on. the left lane is supposed to yeild to the right lane. i'm in the right lane abiding all traffic laws. i look over and there's an MK6 volkswagen GTI next to me. he smirks and takes off. i think, here goes nothing... downshift... downshift.... grind gears... downshift... lots of noise... can't even see the GTI anymore. GM says the 3.6 makes over 300 horsepower. it just got it's doors blown off by a car that makes 207. i don't care if i missed shifts or not, that camaro wasn't going to stay with it. all i wanted was my cobalt. the clutch actually feels like a clutch should, there are only 5 gears and the car reacts well in all of them. and boost. gotta have boost.

If you got handled by a gti you need a driver mod.

That clutch is extremely soft though, and blind spots are abundant.

from a 40 roll?
Yep.. How many times did you downshift? Should have put it straight to second and stomped it.
Gti being so much lighter would probably at least hang close to the camaro with a good driver in both.
No way he should have just disappeared from you though.

go drive the manual one and get back to me. and believe me, that car was going nowhere. i can't express how much i hate that engine

they need to dump the 3.6 and the 6-speed stuff they're doing lately. cody, how do you drive that thing? the pedal felt like it had a vacuum under it, just wouldn't come back up. i'd like to take one of the LS3's out for sure, but i think it would have to be a manual. i took some auto 3.6's out too and had to put it in manual mode or the car would never stop shifting. it was just really annoying

I test drove one before i got my grand prix. It was awful; couldn't see out of it, shifted at odd rpms and was slow.

I'll be the first to admit, I actually think Ford did a damn good job on the '11+ Mustang's.

Especially after my old man got a new one back in the fall of '10.

i like em but if i had to pick id go with the mustang, interior isnt the best in the camaro tho and stock on stock the stangs faster and has better interior
