CAI sound when cold

Hey All,

I just finished the final touches in my home made cold air intake. I've noticed that as expected, the intake noise is louder specially the super charger whine which doesn't bother me at all. The thing is is that it makes a loud noise when the engine is cold.

I've uploaded these two videos for comparison:

This one is when it's cold (notice how by the end of the video the noise is much less than at the beginning):

This one was taken a few minutes later once the engine was hotter and the noise is minimal by then:

I just wanted to know if you guys get the same noise when it's cold. I just replaced the SC coupler and oil a couple of days back and was wondering if there may be something else that needed maintenance. Anyway, none of that noise is present with the stock box in place.

Yes it makes a "shovel dragging the concrete sound" when cold. Learn to live with it, it's normal.

Is that dryer duct" LOL
 


It is 4" dryer duct indeed! I couldn't find a 4" 22.5º elbow here, so I used that instead. Thanks for your replies guys.
 
hmm, i once took it off right after a 30 mile drive and the underside of it didnt feel any warmer then the hood insulation. should we take our hoods off too?


ive tried it both ways, temp guage reads the same either way

On your stock car you are probably correct
