Buying Projector Headlights, need a HID kit.

I have a 2000 GP GT, and my headlights aren't cutting it at night, plus virtually no light when its raining & dark. So I figured if I'm switching bulbs, I'd go ahead and go all out. I want to buy these:

97-03 PONTIAC GRAND PRIX BLACK LED PROJECTOR HEADLIGHTS : eBay Motors (item 330413454543 end time Mar-22-10 16:47:37 PDT)

And I can buy from the Zdash site, which offers a HID upgrade package. But if I buy from e-bay and get the HID kit seperate, I'll be saving some money that can go to my next car payment instead.

So, what I need help with is, what HID kit (8000k preferred) will fit into that appropriately and with as little modding as necessary (I know SOME will be unavoidable but I do want to mod/splice a little anyway)

Is xTune any good? From searching, I've only heard good things about them. I'm looking at this one if it will fit my car & headlights: XTUNE 1998 1999 2000 TOYOTA COROLLA H4 BI-XENON HID KIT : eBay Motors (item 370348937979 end time Mar-19-10 19:48:14 PDT)
They must support High and Low beam. From my understanding, only H4 does this?

These use an H3 bulb for the projector. You will need an H3 HID kit. The high bams I believe are H1 bulbs.
 
I've been looking at this myself. This is what I have dug up so far.

I'm not looking at the exact same set of projector lights but with projector lights there are individual locations for the high and low beams. I am looking at the Gen 1 from Spyder. Those take H1 for the low beams and use a 9005 for the high beam. Everyone is stating that you want to rewire your lights so the low beam will stay on when you switch the high beams on. The problem with HID lights is switching them on and off will burn out the ballasts. If you want to go with one HID kit that will do both High and Low you are better off not going with projector lights. Look for a set that are close to stock or stick with stock.

If I were you I would only get an HID kit for the projector itself, which is an H3 kit for the one's that you posted. From what I read on the reviews from these lights is that the high beams cross and are aimed incorrectly once the projector beam is aimed. I have had my spyder projectors with only an HID kit in the projector and halogens in the high beams. I have never used the high beams.

If you want to do both as an HID set up then you need to get two kits. They are usually sold separately. Another place which sells HIDs for a good price is ddm tuning.
 
Ok then, so

Buy those headlights, and then buy just one H3 kit, since high beams would be redundant and harm the ballasts?

With those two items, do I need to buy any harnesses or are they included? To be honest I'm not sure what they do, but everyone says the lights will flicker/twitch and die if I don't use one.

A harness is not needed but I use one and recommend one. Especially with the 55W kit.

You can get HIDs much cheaper then the one's you posted. These are good kits. I installed one for my brother.

Could you be more specific about ipex motoring? like what kind of things have you heard? Only thing I see in their feedback is a small amount complaining about slow shipping, which is reasonable or about a bracket breaking, which to me seems likely it may be the installer's fault. Besides that, their listings state they will return on 30 days, and pay all shipping... So paypal is pretty good about getting my money back if they don't hone up to the statement.

Unless I'm missing something, I don't see why ipex shouldn't be ordered from.

And the listing says it includes a harness. Is that the only harness I'll need then? or are there multiple?

I read about two guys who ordered from ipex. One guy ordered the black projectors and received a chrome set. He ended up taking the lens apart himself and painting them black. There was also another guy who ordered the black ones and received one chrome and one black headlight. It took him a few days to hear back from them and eventually receive his replacement set. The link I gave you for dash racing is a good deal with HIDs.

The harness they mention in the listing is the harness to plug the lights straight to the factory plug. I am talking about a relay harness for the HIDs themselves. The harness will connect to your battery to power the ballasts for the HIDs. I recommend you get one.
 
Yepp, I saw the negative comment about wanting black and got chrome, but when I clicked "view item" he'd bought the chrome listing (lol) As for the black headlight with chrome, that does concern me a little bit but I'm not in a hurry so if that occurs, I'll just have them send me a return label.

As for the dashZ, Sorry I forgot to mention in the last reply: The group deal ended awhile back.

I was looking at the lights on Dash originally, but the price is too high.

I think I will go ahead and buy them off ipex, and once I get them to work ok with the halogen, I'll buy the HID's and retrofit them. Once I get everything installed, I'll post back with pics and let you know how it went.

So I got these projector headlights and both the projector and highbeam ports say H1...but the highbeam holder looks different.... I'm guessing this is wrong?
