Bunch of Performance Questions...

Alright guys, hopefully the last of my questions for ya in the seeming endless journey to come as close as we can to perfection with our cars.

I only get 8 PSI of boost, on a gen V blower with a 3.1" pulley, I have either the equivalent of either the X-P Hot or the NIC from ZZP... I don't recall which, I will try to find out tomorrow, but Comp Cams sent me one at a discounted price after my original sheared off in the engine that was essentially the same grind as one of those two.

I also have a northstar throttle body, full exhaust system replaced with a Borla, 2.25" intercooler, 42# injectors, stock heads, and I'm using the N/A engine block, so higher compression... I think that is all that should pertain to the boost...

I believe I should be making a significant amount more than 8 PSI right? I would think more along the lines of 12-13 easy...

Also, how noticeable is valve float? I believe I have aftermarket springs, since they are taller than the stock ones... However since they came with the car when I got it I don't know exactly what the pound rating on them is... I'm debating on just buying new springs from ZZP so I know exactly what is in there.

Another thing, I'm burning some oil now... I assume it is the valve seals, so I am replacing those tomorrow... The only other thing that could make the engine burn oil would be a stuck ring right?

And lastly, how noticeable would it be to drop pulley sizes? I would like to go down to at least a 2.8 from the 3.1... Just not sure if it would be worth it.

Any input/advice would be greatly appreciated - as once these issues are resolved - my car should be golden!

You could unplug the BBV and see if the boost goes up.

A poorly routed PCV system can make the car use oil, if you swapped superchargers.

You could pull the plugs to see what ones are burning the oil too.

Both the XP and the NIC bleed a lot of boost off but it shouldn't be that low. Is that like a steady 8 psi WOT on the 3.1? Is it like 8 almost 9 Or like barely 8?

From my understanding you'll see the valve float in the higher RPM range, like 5700+. Where are your shift points? Got any scans, like a torque log for us?

I'm guessing from your post you're not sure what the boost levels were at previous to now. Like how much with your last pulley on, before the 3.1?

It is a steady 8 at WOT, never reaches 9. And that is even at circa 6300 RPMs... I'm not exactly sure where the shift points are, because I haven't actually tuned the car myself yet... Will be doing that in the next week or two.

Also not sure what the boost was before, but if I remember right, when I first got the car it was around 12 PSI... granted that was a diff cam, but it was still an aggressive one.
