Building new FE3's, mount question

SaukRapids

I can't car too good.
GM's parts diagrams show a wedge shape spacer in with the mount, like #4 on this -

Will I need to buy that wedge thing, GM 22167000, or will it be in with the mounts depending what I buy? These look slightly different shape than those pictured in Rockauto's mount kits.

They're only about $8/ea so it's an easy order if I need em. Thanks for any input!

I just went ahead and bought these off ebay. I don't know if they're getting scarce. Well, I'm not even sure I'll need them for that matter.

There was also a couple "Shield" items I wasn't too sure about. I found the OE bellows, so I may need them.

It seems like it should be very straightforward, but it just isn't that simple finding the parts to piece these together.

I plan on making a list of the required AC Delco part numbers for this project. Might even do a write-up, amount of free time pending.

Part #'s so far:

Strut - GM 506273
Dust Shield(?) - GM 22189840
Wedge/Isolator - GM 22167000
Bellows - GM 901083

You wont need the angle spacer if you get Monroe mounts. I had bad luck with groaning using those.

I would buy the AC Delco professionals and re-use the plastic spacer.
It looks like most mount kits manufacturers think you will re-use the old spacer.
It does get pricey if you are replacing 100,000 original isolators, etc.

Make sure you add more grease to the bearings i

Anyway here is a pic I found of a Monroe assembly.

That pic will be useful later, and I actually didn't think of grease yet either. Thanks on both accounts.

Think I'm gonna pull one side, take the spring off and see what's layin there. Then I can compare with what I plan to order and ask questions.

Just wanna make sure it's all here. :th_beer-toast1:

I checked my Rockauto order from when I did it a few years ago.
This is all I needed to get it done, front and back.
The Monroe strut mate kits are probably your best deal. I didn't grease mine before install.
I learned a lesson. I replaced them with Duralast from Autozone just because I decided to remedy it one day. Those I greased.

Ok, I have most the parts on their way here. spazz, you mentioned grease. I gather the bearing needs it, but did you grease any other areas?

Read maybe do the insulators too? Asking cus a friend just did them and has an awful noise when turning the strut by hand.

Thanks again!
