Broken 12v socket, how to remove?

The 12v socket on the front of the center console seems dead, anything I plug there doesn't work. The other 12v inside the compartment works fine and since both are on the same circuit and same wire, I can assume either the socket has gone bad or the cable somehow came loose.

I happened to have another center console (cracked, ugly, cannibalized for replacement buttons and for intact arm rest/compartment cover) and it has 2 known good 12v socket. But I can't figure how to remove it without breaking something. Any guide or video on this?

take some 100 grit sand paper roll it around your finger and sand the inside of the power port, and scrub the bottom too. lighlty, they tend to get some rust in there and fail to work.
 
I've tried sandpapering to death. It seems the center metal plate for positive tip got bent in too far and nothing can reach it. I still get 12v with a meter but most tips of 12v plugs aren't as long as my meter's probes.

So how can I remove the old socket?
 
Have you tried taking the console out and seeing if it disconnects from the back?

With your foot on the brake pop it in neutral, take a small screw driver and remove the screw holding the shifter knob on and remove it. There's a total of 4 screws on the side of the console (10mm) that need to come off (2 on each side). Remove those and pop the console up. There should 1 or 2 wiring harness underneath the console that you simply unhook and bam console should come all the way out.
