Break Question

Is there anything that can be done to get rid of the squeaking in my brakes? They are good so its not like they are going but I can't stand that squeak!!! So not attractive!

Also, when I hit bumps I hear a clunking noise coming from under the car. Any ideas what that could be?

Cheap brake pads will squeak. Get new ceramic pads and that should take care of it.

The clunking over bumps could be a ball joint or a control arm bushing. I thought mine was a ball joint until I checked it out and found the front bushing totally separated from the control arm.

Squeaking brakes, assuming nothing is wrong, are usually caused by the brake pads. However if the noise is that annoying the wear indicator or the pad rivets’ are probably digging into your rotor, which would mean you need new rotors as well.

On my 2001 GP I used carbon mettalic shoes by performance friction available for about $110.00 at O'reilly's auto parts and they're the quietist shoe's i've ever used. They have a stainless steel backing on them so you do'n have to use anti-squeal compound....

I bought drilled rotors, and got ceramic pads with them, and they are always squeaking,
As for the clunk, it could be many different things, first, have you done any work to the car recently? If yo uhave, check it over, maby you forgot to tighten something. If no, it could be balljoints, tie rods, Struts, exhaust mounts..... and the list goes on, does the clunk come from the front or back of your car?
