Brake upgrade

Just wanted to ask if anyone has pictures of the brake upgrades they have done to their cars, specifically NOT LS1 or GXP upgrades. Looking along the lines of brembos, baer, or even wilwoods, thanks.

with fbody brakes, or even the GM 12" upgrade, the car stops just fine. to spend $1000+ on brakes is idiotic.

The only reason I was asking is because I seen a guy with a Monte Carlo SS that was able to bolt up the new 4 piston brembos used on the 2010 Camaro. I was trying to determine if they use the same spindles that are used on the Grand Prix GXP and in turn, used on our cars. From the research I have been doing, the calipers are relatively inexpensive and would be no more than about $500 for the upgrade.

That's more realistic than a big brake kit. Big brake kit is more or less a bling thing unless your track racing the piss out of your grand prix which most ppl don't do. Just do what everyone else do except since most gps come with a spongy brake pedal feel as well upgrade to stainless lines your car will like you for it.

I have the GXP front brake swap all ready so I will go with that and see what happens. I drive through the mountains on a regular basis and the brakes heat up pretty quick.

so autox and track racers are idiots? everyone mods there cars to go like hell, but no one ever thinks about making them stop better.

where, info? pics, links?

those a 14" rotors on the new camaro SS..

the monte SS is a w-body and has the same stuff we have. He much have used a custom bracket...

even for the occaisional auto-x outing i think they are a waste. if you need them for auto-x'ing your gp then go for it, but if youre mainly using your car on the street then its a giant waste. its also a waste to have drilled/slotted rotors on the street, but yeah.

drilled/slotted on the street LOL, sorry I'm not ricer joe so no for me on those.

Drilled rotors help with ridding of heat but guess what helps even more... ducts that deliver cold air to the rotors. I posted a link a while ago to a mini cooper forum where they would take out their fog lights then run piping to the rotor from the back of the foglight opening. THAT seemed to enable them to be able to autocross their mini's with stock brakes more-so than anything else.

Personally for the the street, try better pads, then the 12" rotors then LS1/ C5 calipers. (preferably C5's since they're smaller in piston displacement hence better brake feel), smaller brake booster (from the impala) and then maybe venting your brakes as mentioned above.

Just get some raybestos or centric rotors since they wont rust and are US made so they shouldn't warp.

When people think they have warping, they should try rebedding their pads first before getting new rotors or getting them turned... most of the time its just you exceeding the heat range of your pads.

any recommendations on pads? My brakes are squeaking like a ***** lately and i got all new pads and rotors 6 months ago.

So the c5 will bolt up to what bracket? Because I will just run those if this is the case.

I remember a while ago I posted a thread about CTS-V brakes see them on a camaro made me think they should fit a Grand Prix and people thought I was nuts. :)
