any brake recommendations?
i know nothing about brakes but i want to improve my car... what should i look at getting?

Drilled and slotted rotors. And some decent pads. I usually find the cheapest slotted and drilled rotors and go with those (ebay)

Or if you wanted to go all out you could get the F-body brakes and calipers. You would have to drill and tap the caliper bracket out to a larger size though. But then you would have 12'' brakes.

you can drill the stock brackets?

No you have to drill and tap the f-body brackets to a larger bolt size.

Personally I do not like the slotted or slotted/drilled rotors.

I really like my Brembo/Hawk HPS brake setup. I just wrote a review a little bit ago.

You can also get the caliper brackets from an 00-05 implala/monte carlo. This allows you to use the stock caliper and a larger rotor in the front.

I ended up getting the 12" caliper brackets and got a set of blank rotors from r1 concepts. I will be using hawk pads with them as well. I had slotted rotors and they are more for looks.

if i could do it all again i would just get the 12 inch caliper brackets. i switched to the Fbody and have had nothing but problems with the ZZP stainless lines

x2. The 12" Impala/Monte upgrade is a noticeable improvement, and is probably the cheapest/easiest upgrade out there.

As for the slotted rotors, the one thing I've noticed is that they don't fade nearly as much in the rain as my stock brakes did. I don't know for certain if it's the pads or the rotors, but I've tried several different pads over the blank rotors with no improvement so I'm guessing the slotted rotors help.

If you go with slotted and cross drilled discs, make sure they chamfer* the cross drill holes. The chamfer is basically a bevelling of the hole to help prevent cracking around the hole. And the slots you want them to be diamond cut. It helps to channel out brake dust and keeps them from getting clogged with the dust as well.

R1 Concepts does both of those very well. You just have to be picky and read the ads and send the seller questions asking if they chamfer* their cross drill holes and diamond cut their slots.

Just a word of advice :)

Also R1concepts does not put the minimum DOT specs that you can resurface the rotors to. So a lot of places won't resurface them without that on there. That's a problem i'm having right now.
