Bouncing speedometer

Like the headline says my speedometer started bouncing at low speeds yesterday. I went ahead and replaced the speed sensor. That didn't fix it. What I'll probably end up doing is dropping the car off at one of the local tranny shops and have them test drive/scan the car. & See what they find. I'm assuming this is a transmission issue. But l, before I do that does anyone have any thoughts on this? Like maybe the shift solenoid?

I would check the vehicle speed with some sort of OBD2 device. That would narrow down the source of the problem. Is it a problem with the signal the cluster is receiving, or a problem in the cluster itself. Thinking maybe you got a stepper motor going bad.

The only other things that happen are the radio sorta cuts out/volume got crackly and wierd while the speedo was bouncing. That and shifting from reverse into first and second the car was slow to shift, like, twice.

I decided to check the harness for damage. We looked down near the vehicle speed sensor & under the hood. Sure enough there were a couple of frayed wires going to the TCM. No doubt damaged by the air filter rubbing against it. Patched it up, went for a drive, and so far no more bouncing speedometer.
I'll have to keep a close eye on it for the next few days. If it happens again it's going to the tranny shop.

Ah oh, my speedometer & HUD are no longer in sync. Speedometer reads 40mph while the HUD reads 41/42.
