• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

Both my Grand Prix GT's are acting up!

Ok people I've got issues with my 97 and my 03. Let's start with the 97! First the gas gage shoots way past full when the tank is below 1/4 of a tank. Also when I take it on the highway and floor it, it basically goes nowhere and takes its time to accelerate. Then there is the fuel smell! I looked under the hood and followed the fuel rail and the line on the back of the engine (closest to the fire wall) I noticed gas dripping from the little black valve. I pushed on it (while the car was runnin) and air and more gas came out. On my 2003 a couple of years ago I changed my catalytic converter and O2 censor. Everything was cool then last fall I accelerated and my engine light came on. No problems accelerating or visable problems ( a slight change in idle when the car is just running in the driveway.) gas mileage not too bad. Also when it is really cold out it shifts real hard in like 2nd or 3rd gear. I'm pretty handy but when it comes to diagnosing these problems I'm at a loss! If anyone has any ideas please hit me up!

thanks!

The 97 needs a fuel level sender and fuel line o-rings.

On the 03, what was the code from the check engine light. Don't say you didn't check it. That's unacceptable from a handy guy trying to solve problems.

Yup, sounds like the sending unit and the fuel pressure regulator are bad on the 97. Dude you really don’t want gas leaking anywhere.:th_nervous:

The 03 would seem to have two issues. For the rough shifts I would change the tranny fluid, and use synthetic fluid for better cold shifting. And the idle issue, could be any of several items. Get the scanned and come back with the codes.
